Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Squintle.

What is Squintle?

Squintle is a spot the difference game for iPhone. Two images, one difference — find it as fast as you can. Play daily challenges, casual mode, or real-time PvP against other players.

Is Squintle free?

Yes. Squintle is free to play with daily limits: 1 daily challenge, 5 casual games, 2 PvP matches, and 2 friend challenges per day. Squintle Pro removes all limits and adds extra perks like 3x XP and exclusive cosmetics.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can play casual mode anonymously without signing in. To access daily challenges, PvP, friends, leaderboards, and achievements, you need to sign in with Apple or Google and pick a username. No email or password setup is required.

How does the daily challenge work?

Every day at midnight UTC, a new set of 10 images is released. Everyone worldwide gets the same puzzles. You have one attempt — 45 seconds per image. Wrong taps add a 45-second penalty, so accuracy is crucial. Your total time goes on the global leaderboard.

How does PvP work?

You're matched with a real opponent of similar skill in real time. Both players see the same images simultaneously. It's best of 5 rounds — the fastest correct tap wins each round. Winning and losing affects your PvP rating, which resets at the start of each month.

What happens when I tap the wrong spot?

In the daily challenge, each wrong tap adds 45 seconds to your time for that image — essentially the maximum, so accuracy matters. In PvP, a wrong tap sets your round time to 45 seconds, effectively giving the round to your opponent. In casual mode, a wrong tap adds 30 seconds to your recorded time but there's no countdown so you can keep trying.

How does the rating system work?

PvP uses a rating system starting at 950. Winning matches increases your rating, losing decreases it. The amount gained or lost depends on the rating difference between you and your opponent. Ratings reset to 950 at the start of each month, and your end-of-month rating is saved to the monthly leaderboard.

Can I play with friends?

Yes. Add friends by searching for their username. Once they accept your request, you can challenge them to friendly 1v1 matches. Friendly matches don't affect your PvP rating or stats — they're just for fun.

What is Squintle Pro?

Squintle Pro is an optional subscription that gives you unlimited games in all modes, 3x XP boost, exclusive avatar frames, Pro emotes, a Pro badge on your profile, and priority support. Plans are available weekly ($1.99), monthly ($2.99), and annually ($19.99).

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to your iPhone's Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → Squintle → Cancel. Subscriptions are managed entirely through Apple. Your Pro benefits remain active until the end of the current billing period.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. You'll need to confirm by typing "DELETE". This permanently removes all your data including your profile, scores, achievements, friends, and match history. This action cannot be undone. If you have an active subscription, cancel it through Apple before deleting your account.

What data do you collect?

We collect your email (from Apple/Google sign-in), username, country, profile photo, game data (scores, achievements, match results), and basic device info for error reporting. We do not sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Can I change my username?

Currently, usernames cannot be changed after they are set. Choose carefully! Usernames must be 3-20 characters, letters and numbers only, and cannot contain offensive content.

How do I report a player?

Tap on their profile and use the report button. Select a reason (cheating, inappropriate username, harassment, or other) and optionally add details. Our moderation team reviews all reports.

I got banned. Can I appeal?

Yes. When you open the app while banned, you'll see the reason for your ban and an option to submit an appeal. Our team reviews appeals and may reinstate your account.

Does Squintle work offline?

No. An internet connection is required to play all game modes, as puzzles are loaded from our servers and scores need to be submitted in real time.

Is Squintle available on iPad or Android?

Squintle is currently available on iPhone only. iPad and Android support may come in the future.

How do achievements work?

There are over 100 achievements across all game modes. They're awarded automatically when you hit milestones — like finding your first difference, winning a PvP match, reaching a certain level, or completing a daily challenge with a perfect score. Check the Achievements screen in the app to see what you've unlocked and what's next.

What are frames and emotes?

Frames are decorative borders around your profile avatar. Emotes can be sent to your opponent during PvP matches. Both are unlocked by levelling up. You can equip up to 10 emotes at a time from the Unlockables screen. Some frames and emotes are exclusive to Pro subscribers.

How does XP work?

You earn XP from all game modes — finding differences, winning matches, completing challenges. The XP values shown in the app are the Pro rates. Free users earn approximately one third of those amounts. There's a daily XP cap to keep things fair, and double XP is available on weekends (Friday to Sunday UTC). XP determines your level, which unlocks frames and emotes.
